OUR HISTORY

The First Trinity Church of God in Christ was founded in September, 1976 by then, Minister Henry Brown. Church was held in the Whittier Community Center at 2600 Grand Avenue in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The church was started with just a few (4) families and in April, 1978 on our Pastor’s Birthday (23rd) we moved into the church building at 981 Marshall Avenue, St. Paul, MN—a building that the church had purchased earlier that month. Later that year

Pastor Henry Brown was later made Superintendent of the Capitol City District Churches, by then Bishop S. H. Overton. A young and energetic Pastor with a vision, Pastor instituted several programs in the church to benefit the church and community. Among them were the Trinity Day Care Center, The Golden-Age & Community Nutrition Program and the Church Missions Program with regular visitation to Yorkshire Manor Nursing Home.

As the excitement grew, so did the membership as more families became members of First Trinity. The Auxiliaries of the church were able to become functional. Eventually, the church was able to retire their mortgage. Pastor Brown was able to leave his position as Senior Systems Analyst at Control Data Corporation and become a full time Pastor.

First Trinity was fast becoming a landmark in the Selby-Dale, Summit-University communities of St. Paul. Its outreach programs were being effective, and its programswere reaching the community as intended.

In 2009, a survey was completed and funded to build a 32-unit Senior Apartment Building on the property next door to and owned by the First Trinity Church of God in Christ. This is a vision of Pastor Henry Brown, that the church own housing that will be able to assist its members.

First Trinity Church of God in Christ is one of the most progressive members of the Church of God in Christ in Minnesota. We have come this far by faith and our Pastor, Henry Brown, teaches faith and is a man of great faith.
